FINANCIAL LITERACY COMPETITION REGISTRATION

Financial Literacy Competition - May 28, 2012

The contest: The FLC will consist of a one-hour written test of 75 multiple choice questions. Answers will be recorded on scantron cards. The SAF will provide each participating secondary school with all the materials needed to administer the writing of the FLC within each school.

Participation: For the 2012 competition, the FLC will be delivered to Waterloo public and separate school boards.

Selection of contest writers: Open to Grade 9 and 10 secondary school students enrolled in or completed a business studies course. Selection of students will be the discretion of the business studies teacher.

Reward and recognition: Each participating school will receive a ranked listing of their individual student participants and an overall school ranking. The top scoring student from each school will be awarded and recognized through scholarships, physical and/or experiential prizes.

The School of Accounting and Finance is the only English speaking professional school of its kind in Canada. We offer 2 undergraduate (Accounting and Financial Management and Computing and Financial Management) and 3 graduate (Master of Accounting; Master of Taxation; PhD in Accounting) programs to provide students with the technical, analytical, evaluative, and communication skills needed to prepare for successful careers in public accounting, finance, industry, government and not-for-profit sectors. In conjunction with the Faculties of Mathematics and Science, the School also administers 2 undergraduate programs (Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy; Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy) and 1 graduate program (Master of Quantitative Finance).
